Position held: Freelance Copywriter and Accessibility Specialist

Brief

I was brought onto the MONOPOLY McDonald’s 2019 campaign as an Accessibility Copywriter to work with a small team of designers and engineers. The national campaign, which sees thousands of people take part, needed web and app copy, T&C’s and legalities copy, error messaging and email copy. I also had to work on a second version of the game which is an internal version for McDonald’s company employees. A key element to the brief was that I worked as close as possible to WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.

Result

To complete the brief, I had to work extensively with key stakeholders at McDonald’s and also brands that we were partnering with for the game prizes. This meant also working closely with the Client and Account Managers to produce and revise copy.

I worked closely with the senior designer to create a user journey and copy that was both accessible and on brand. The campaign ran in March 2019.
